Mae Lah Klo Christian School (By Roy)
What a blessing to be finally settled at our new home close to the Myanmar border, 60 kilometers north of Mae Sot. Our home is actually in the village right next to the school. It is a nice walk to and from the campus. I thought that I would take this opportunity to share our dreams for Mae Lah Klo Christian School. One of the first things that is needed is a girls dorm. The old one burned down this last year, leaving about 35 girls with no housing. Much of their belongings were consumed in the fire also. Many of the churches in Thailand are raising funds for this project. The last that I heard was that about 13% had been raised for this project. With 2 ½ weeks till school starts I am beginning to think that God has again taken this whole project under his care. You see, when all seems impossible, that is when God does big miracles. I am thinking now that we will temporarily house the girls in existing bamboo buildings. With a little bit of work we can make them livable. We can then build the dorm while teaching work ethics and technical skills. One of my goals is to have industries to provide a way for poor children to work their way through school. They can then graduate debt free with skills, and knowledge that will help them the rest of their lives. There is also a lot of land on the campus. In the past they have grown rice. We want to begin an agriculture program to provide vegetables as well as rice for the school. The extra can be sold at a reasonable price in the surrounding area. There are also plans to take this school from a 6 grade school to a 12 grade school as soon as possible. I would like to do that by the end of this school year. This of course would provide plenty of work opportunities for children to work and obtain skills. This is all dependent on God providing the finances. He has never failed us yet. When he withholds the finances we don't spend the money, which has always proven to be the wisest choice. And when God wants us to move forward He has always provided the right amount. Not too much and not too little! Our God is a big God! Of course there are always building projects that will be going on, but the thing that is the most exciting is that we will be building characters for eternity. We want to provide our students with the best Christian education that we possibly can. God is in the business of changing lives. In many ways this school has become part of our family. We will begin to encourage, lead and direct as we would our own children. We will worship with them, pray with them, work with them, study with them, play with them, laugh with them, cry with them. Just simply live with them. In closing let me share with you what God has led me to write down as our theme for this school.
BY BEHOLDING WE BECOME
CHANGED
If you want to teach English, you need to surround your students with English. They need to listen to English, talk English, walk English, live English, sleep English and eat English. They will learn ENGLISH!
IF THE ENGLISH IS PURE
THEY WILL LEARN PURE ENGLISH
If you want to teach Christianity, you need to surround your students with Christianity. You need to provide Christian music, books, movies, recreation. Your conversation needs to be pure, holy, uplifting, honest, transparent (Christian). You need to take your students only where God approves. You need to live a Christian life. You need to sleep a righteous mans sleep (honesty). You need to eat as a Christian eats (eat according to the Biblical diet). They will become like CHRIST by your words and your life! Or they will choose to separate from the Christian environment.
If the CHRISTIANITY is PURE
They will learn PURE CHRISTIANITY!
