Those Ants!
Last night, I was feeling pretty worn out and decided to go to bed early...or at least a bit earlier than Roy and Travis. So, I went to bed, and tried to sleep. I was just getting down to the business of sleeping when I stuck my arm under my pillow, and something bit me. I moved my arm, but something else took a bite also! That woke me up pretty fast, and I grabbed a flashlight to see what intruder was in my bed now. Ants! Those pesky critters were all over, and all over Destiny's bed too. So, Roy started throwing blankets out of the door into the living room while I ran to get the ant spray. Roy then pulled back the pillows on our bed so that I could spray and there...right under my bolster pillow... was a snake skin! YIKES!!!! If that is not enough to give you the creeps, I just did a google search on how long it takes a snake to shed it's skin, and it said 5-7 days! My unanswered question is, do they stay in one place that whole time?????The interesting thing is that for the past few days, every time I went to put my arm under my pillow, something seemed to stop me. It was just an uncomfortable feeling that I would get, so I would turn over and sleep some other way. God is so good at taking care of us. But, even though I know that, it took me quite some time to get back to sleep after that discovery. While trying to sleep again, I heard rats running all over the house, squeaking up a storm. I think that American rats are much quieter, although I have never done a google search on that idea! Anyway, by this morning I was rather horrified about the idea of living in this house another minute. Maybe I was just tired, but I was ready to move out. Inge generously said that I could stay at her house, but I realized that it is just a matter of time before they discover snakes in their house too. But, then the most wonderful thing happened...Travis installed my sink so that water actually comes out of the faucet whenever you turn the shiny silver handle. It is so incredible to have running water right inside my house that I forgot all about the trauma of the snake skin, and I have NO desire to move out of my wonderful house anymore. You should see it...I can now wash my hands, use a washcloth to keep the counters clean, wash vegetables, oh my...all kinds of wonderful uses I have come up with already! The girls were so excited about the water right in the house that I have not even had to mention doing dishes, they are just done.It is amazing how snakes can just slide into the back of your mind when you have something so wonderful to occupy your mind. God is so good to give us such amazing luxuries. I think that my work load was just cut in half. Now I should have more time to devote to raising my little girls for God, and for directing the missionary training. Can you tell how happy I am???? Maybe tomorrow I will even take some pictures to show you. Today I was just too busy washing things to get pictures. Never take for granted the blessings that God has given you.
