Waiting
You may be asking yourselves why in the world I seem to have plenty of time to write about unimportant things like snakes in my room and the brilliancy of cribs. Well, that is because we are sitting here waiting.Waiting for what? Well, we found out that we have to wait on new visas and work permits before we can move. So, we are all packed up and waiting to go, but first we have to wait for visas. We have found that when you are waiting to leave a place, there is not a whole lot to do. It is time to plant new crops, but we don’t want to plant them here…we are waiting for the new place! We are planning what we want to grow, how to do it, and what will be needed to accomplish such magnificent gardens, but we can’t do it yet since we are waiting….Roy spends hours each day studying and planning how to be the world’s best school director. He is trying to plan where to put the new girls dorm, and our house, but the plans can only get so far before we have to stop and just wait until we get there so that we can measure and make sure all those carefully laid plans will work.I have all kinds of plans for the house that we plan to hopefully build. There will actually be electricity, so while I wait, and plan, I dream of fans galore, pointed right at me, cooling me off in this terrible heat, but all I can do is wait…What is there to do while waiting? Well, since I have a LOT of experience moving, especially when I was a child, I know that it is terribly important that our kids feel like they are important, needed, and loved. So, we are spending a lot of time making memories with our kids. Since it is so dreadfully hot, we have been spending afternoons over at the river, swimming! It is great fun and it is the only exercise that we can get without dying of heat stroke. We play with them, work with them, and wait with them….Reminds me of another event that we are waiting for. Often my kids ask me, “When is Jesus coming? We want to see Jesus!” Are we looking forward to Jesus’ coming with the same eagerness that we feel to move? Are we planning and preparing for our new position in heaven? Are we dreaming of our new home? Are we building the relationships that are needed to take others with us? Heaven is a real place, and we can either plan to move there, or we can do as we have always done and go about our lives as if the move is not coming. Let’s be ready!
