On The Road Again
Khone was sitting beside me on the bus, but I could tell from the green expression on her face that she was not enjoying the trip as much as one would wish. I thought that Khen was doing better sitting behind me, but at the first rest stop, she bolted out of the bus and made a mad dash for the nearest restroom where she kindly deposited her breakfast. So much for enjoying the scenery! It was time for Andrew, Khen and Khone to head home, and I joined them in order to make yet another visa run. I know that you are all wondering why in the world I would need to make another visa run after getting that wonderful year visa, but I have yet to tell you about that sad story. You see, the Thai government is now requiring that you not only have a year visa, but you also have to get a work permit. Without a work permit, your year visa is rubbish. So, since the Love and Care Project cannot give me a work permit, I am back to being in rather desperate straights. In fact, it appeared that I might have to start leaving the country every two weeks. But, God is working things out so that I can stay two months at a time again until a more permanent solution is reached. But back to the trip.... When we reached Bangkok, Khen and Khone were feeling a bit better, since the roads are much straighter after you leave the mountains. They had never seen a big city before, and were in awe of the raised highways and huge, tall buildings. Andrew pointed out a parking garage, and they spent some time discussing how all those cars got up there! They were also quite concerned about the raised highways...what would happen if it decided to fall down? They both agreed that when Jesus comes, many people would be killed there from the falling concrete, cars, and buses! Everything was new and strange for them. (They went through Bangkok at night on the way to my place) They both agreed that although it is fun to see, they would not want to live there! It got me to thinking about when we all get to heaven. Can you imagine how much fun it will be for Jesus to show us the wonders of heaven? There will be no car sickness getting there, and then there will be so much for us to see that is totally new for us. We won't need to get long term visas to stay there either, since we are children of the king. Heaven will be ours to enjoy for all eternity! I can't wait to get there!
